Ben Affleck is Batman.
This comes as shocking news, but for a change it was the studio that released the information while sites (including Renegade Cinema) was looking at rumors about Christopher Nolan liking Wes Bentley and Warner wanting an older actor like Josh Brolin.
Well, Ben Affleck as Batman matches that last rumor about wanting an older Bruce Wayne in the role to star alongside Henry Cavill in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie. This is also very interesting casting because Warner Bros. originally wanted Affleck to direct the Justice League movie.
Affleck turned down the directing gig, but it sounds like Warner Bros. made him an offer he couldn’t refuse because Ben Affleck is Batman in the upcoming 2015 blockbuster movie.
This is Affleck’s second superhero movie in his career, as he also played Marvel character Daredevil, which was a slight disappointment although the director’s cut of the movie is actually pretty great.
“Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman,” director Zack Snyder said. “He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him.”
There is also a release date for Batman vs. Superman, as it will hit theaters towards the end of summer with a July 17, 2015 scheduled release. Snyder will direct the movie and it is supposed to lead into an eventual Justice League movie, although what Affleck signed up for is unknown.
