Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy finally has their Drax. Dave Bautista, the former WWE superstar known as Batista, has signed on to play Drax in the upcoming Marvel superhero movie.

We reported back on March 1 that Batista was the front runner for the role of Drax after Jason Momoa (Conan the Barbarian) priced himself out. However, Marvel went back and forth between paying Momoa or signing Batista for the role of the big, green warrior. Other actors contending for the role include Isaiah Mustafa and Patrick Wade.

Looks like Big Dave won the role.

Batista joins Chris Pratt in the cast. Pratt portrays team leader Star-Lord/Peter Quill. The remaining members of the team left to be cast are Rocket Raccoon (a raccoon) and Groot (a tree-man), both of whom will be voice acted or motion captured, and Gamora, a female warrior.

Dave Bautista was last seen in The Man with the Iron Fist and will be next seen in Riddick with Vin Diesel.

James Gunn directs Guardians of the Galaxy, which is set for a August 1, 2014 release.
