Matthew Vaughn seemed like a man without a home. He left the X-Men franchise and Bryan Singer returned to take back over his baby. Vaughn then turned down the chance to direct Justice League because he wanted to win the Star Wars: Episode VII job. J.J. Abrams signed on to Star Wars, and now Justice League might be dead too.

What is left for Matthew Vaughn?

Vaughn’s buddy Mark Millar tweeted that Vaughn has signed on to produce the new Fantastic Four movie. Millar is in a place where he would know, as Fox hired the man who created The Ultimates to oversee their Marvel properties (X-Men and Fantastic Four).

Of course, Vaughn directed the adaptation of Millar’s comic book Kick-Ass, and is supposed to also direct his Secret Service comic book. Hopefully, Vaughn gets on something quick. The guy has been money with his last few projects and the sooner he can get behind the camera again the better.

Until then, he will oversee Chronicle director Josh Trank’s upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, based on a script by Jeremy Slater, a guy who used to write with me over at Chud.com. If anyone can pull off this script, its Slater.
