If you can’t wait for Star Trek Into Darkness to come to theaters, you’re not alone. So many people were trying to purchase their Star Trek Into Darkness pre-sales IMAX tickets in advance that both the BFI and ODEON online booking systems crashed due to the online traffic.

Star Trek Into Darkness pre-salesThe film, directed by J.J. Abrams and starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and Benedict Cumberbatch, brought ten times more pre-sales than the systems were able to take. The last film to cause such a stir was The Dark Knight Rises back in 2012. It seems that the upcoming Star Trek sequel has quite the following anticipating it’s release, making it a force to be reckoned with in the mainstream media.

As a fan of Benedict Cumberbatch, as well as Chris Pine and the first Star Trek movie, I am extremely excited for the movie coming out next month. I personally believe the current franchise has brought Star Trek to a whole new generation, seeing as how the recent films are how I came to become a fan.

What do you think of the new Star Trek franchise? Are you excited for the upcoming film?

Star Trek Into Darkness hits theaters May 17.
