One of the most ambitious efforts in the upcoming Marvel plans is without a doubt Guardians of the Galaxy. Every decision, from the selection of James Gunn as director to inspired casting choices like Michael Rooker as an alien native has made the property increasingly intriguing. Now, the biggest news has arrived and it involves the possible casting of John C. Reilly. That’s right… Dewey Cox himself!
Hitfix says Marvel is offering the role of Rhomann Dey to John C. Reilly and is likely to accept. The role is described as the “Agent Coulson of the Guardians movies” and will be one of the most demanding. The character is being redesigned as a human agent who is a middle man between the Guardians and SHIELD. This is a huge change from the source material as Rhomann Dey was not human and a leader of the Nova corps in the comic books. As we all notice from Iron Man 3, Marvel is becoming flexible on adapting their most well known characters.
I think it’s pretty safe to say that Guardians of the Galaxy is going to be one crazy ass flick. Between a violent talking Raccoon and John C. Reilly, I truly cannot wait to see how this Marvel monster shapes out. Hopefully, we hear who is voicing Rocket Raccoon very soon.
What do you think about John C. Reilly possibly joining Guardians of the Galaxy cast?
