While we have been hearing about Keanu Reeves’ directorial debut Man of Tai Chi for a long time, it has almost just been a series of roadblocks in the news. Now, after a long delay, a new Man of Tai Chi trailer has hit the Internet so we can see what the movie is all about.
Keanu Reeves not only directs the movie, but seems to star in it as well. Reeves stars as a businessman whose goals seem to be to promote underground fighting tournaments. In what looks like a mixture of Bloodsport and Mortal Kombat, Reeves seems to be blurring the line between mystical fighting and just down-and-dirty fighting to the death.
The hero is a moral man (Tiger Hun Chen), a fighter who feels that using his skills for money is unscrupulous, but also almost seems unbeatable. He also doesn’t believe in killing, something that the trailer shows Keanu Reeves’ character is annoyed by. We even get a fight at the end between Reeves’ character and Chen’s.
Keanu Reeves brought together some great martial artists for this movie, including Karen Mok (Black Mask), Iko Uwais (The Raid: Redemption) and Simon Yam (Ip Man). The first Man of Tai Chi trailer showed just fighting action, but this new one actually emphasizes what the story is about. Enjoy the trailer and prepare for the U.S. release, although the release date is still not announced yet.
