For all you Shadowhunters out there, The Infernal Devices is now in development. Stephanie Sanditz, an actress-turned-screenwriter known for her script for The Mediator, has been hired on to write the screenplay to The Mortal Instruments prequel. With the release of the third and final book of TID being released last month, fans who were left with a gaping whole in their hearts now have something to help fill the void.
Unique Features optioned the rights for both The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices by author Cassandra Clare, then teamed up with Constantin Films to work on the The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. And even though the first installment in the TMI series doesn’t hit theaters until August 23, Constantin Films has already begun work on TID.
The Infernal Devices, actually The Mortal Instruments prequel, is set in Victorian London. The novels (Clockwork Angel, Clockwork Prince, and Clockwork Princess) revolve around the ancestors of many of the characters in TMI and the upcoming series of Clare’s, The Dark Artifaces.
I can honestly say that Cassandra Clare’s Showdowhunter novels are my favorite books of all time. And even though I love The Mortal Instruments with all my heart, I love The Infernal Devices even more. I already can’t wait for this film to hit theaters, just from knowing that they are working on the project. I can only imagine how my excitement will grow as more news is released.
