Hollywood has been trying to get a new Bonnie and Clyde movie done for quite sometime. A few years ago it was announced that Hillary Duff had signed on to play Bonnie Parker, and Emile Hirsch is now starring in a miniseries based on the couple. Could Liam Neeson and Woody Harrelson find their names added to the story?
There’s a new Bonnie and Clyde project that seems to be gaining steam. Media Rights Capital and Universal Pictures has teamed up to finance a film about the Texas Rangers who hunted down and killed Bonnie & Clyde. John Lee Hancock, the director of The Blind Side, will be directing the project, and the producers are currently seeking to sign both Liam Neeson and Woody Harrelson to the film. The project will be entitled Highwaymen.
This could end up being a very interesting film. Most of the stories about Bonnie and Clyde focus on…well, Bonnie and Clyde. I can’t think of one instance where Hollywood has told the story from the point of view of the lawmen. I’d certainly want to see both Liam Neeson and Woody Harrelson portray a pair of Texas Rangers.
What do you think of the idea of Liam Neeson and Woody Harrelson staring in a Highwaymen movie? Do you like the approach that Hancock seems to be taking to the material? Why don’t you just tell us what you think in the comments below?
