The X-Men franchise is about to really take off. Thanks to huge success stories like X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past, it looks like Fox has done something right when it comes to their Marvel franchises. Up next is Gambit, Deadpool and then X-Men: Apocalypse.
When it comes to X-Men: Apocalypse, anyone who is interested in the movie just got a hint at what to expect, as well as who might be in the movie. A casting call went out for the movie last week, which will be filmed in Canada, and included a synopsis. It lists Jennifer Lawrence as the “star” and reads:
It has all lead to this. All of the battles (both outside and within the group), action, relationships and time travel that the uncanny X-Men have endured have lead to this, their biggest story ever – X-Men: Apocalypse. Following the universe changing events of 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past comes this epic mutant adventure and with it a number of casting opportunities for performers of all ages.
X-Men: Apocalypse will follow the super powered mutants battling their most powerful foe yet, the devious and devastatingly dangerous Apocalypse. This legendary villain uses his incredible abilities to alter his physical form, access other mutant superpowers and telekinesis to recruit a cult-like group called the Four Horsemen to be his servants and do his bidding in an all out war against the X-Men.
So, this tells us that X-Men: Apocalypse will include the Four Horsemen, so I have to wonder if the rumors of an Angel/Archangel is actually true (and if so, that would be awesome).
The casting call also lists who is in X-Men: Apocalypse so far, which includes Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Gambit (Channing Tatum), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Professor X (James McAvoy), Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Moria MacTaggert (Rose Byrne), Psylocke (Olivia Munn), Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Nightcrawler (Kodi Cmit-McPhee, Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) and Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac).
So, between this and Wolverine 3, Hugh Jackman will have played Wolverine nine times. Also, this means that the upcoming Gambit movie will tie in somehow to X-Men: Apocalypse, since Channing Tatum plays the role in both movies. There is no word yet on whether Deadpool will make an appearance or not.
