Some of you Indiana Jones fans may not like to admit it but it was only a matter of time before Disney considered this possibility. It appears that day has finally come as Disney is reportedly courting Chris Pratt for the role as the new Indiana Jones.
I know some of you probably aren’t crazy about the idea of anybody besides Harrison Ford playing this role but in my opinion it’s one that has to be done. If the franchise is going to stay alive (which Disney will likely make sure of), the fact is they’re going to need new blood. Even if that hadn’t been made obvious by watching Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Ford’s recent leg injury on the set of Star Wars: The Force Awakens likely confirmed to Disney executives another Ford-led Indy film would be impractical.
Personally, I like the idea of Pratt taking over the role, though I can’t help but wonder if they’ll be able to get him to agree to it. Ever since the success of Guardians of the Galaxy, offers have been pouring in for the actor and that’s without taking into account the franchises he’s signed up for already. In addition to Guardians of the Galaxy 2, he will likely serve an important role with The Avengers: Infinity War two-parter, voice work for at least one Lego Movie sequel (probably more), and there’s no telling how big Jurassic World will end up being. In short, it’s entirely possible that he won’t have time for Indiana Jones 5, though personally I hope that isn’t the case.
