One of the WWE Studios next movies is a reboot of the classic Leprechaun horror series. All that was really known about this one was that WWE superstar little person Hornswoggle was playing the evil Leprechaun. Of course, with his persona in the WWE, that made it looks like the Leprechaun sequel would keep its tongue planted firmly in the cheek like the prior movies in the series. The first Leprechaun Origins trailer just hit and it looks like that is not the case.

This debut trailer for the new Leprechaun movie plays it straight, with four young friends heading out to explore the Irish countryside only to find themselves trapped in a cabin in the woods, hunted by the evil Leprechaun. There was not one real look at what Hornswoggle looks like as the Leprechaun because this trailer just focused on the kids, the creepy townsfolk, and then scenes of them running for their lives.

Leprechaun Origins stars Brendan Fletcher (Freddy vs Jason), Stephanie Bennett (Grave Encounters 2), Andrew Dunbar (Alien Trespass), Melissa Roxburgh (Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days). It won’t get a theatrical release but will hit video on demand on Aug. 26 and will hit Blu-ray on Sept. 30.
