Richard Donner has announced that a sequel to his 1985 cult classic The Goonies is officially in the works. According to TMZ, Donner said specifically “We’re doing a sequel.” The contemporary adventure story about a group of kids who dubbed themselves “Goonies” followed their shenangigans as they embarked on a treacherous hunt for a local long lost pirate treasure. Donner has insisted that they were working diligently on reuniting the entire cast from the original movie, although previous attempts to produce a sequel have failed in the past.
Richard Donners credits include The Goonies, Lethal Weapon, Superman, Superman II, Scrooged, Maverick and a whole lot of other amazing Hollywood classics.
