Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring, Watchmen) has recently joined the Ant-Man cast. He is the latest addition in a cast that already includes Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas and Michael Pena.
Wilson’s role in Ant-Man hasn’t been officially specified yet but there has already been plenty of speculation.
So far, I think the most likely possibility is that he plays a young Hank Pym. Michael Douglas has already been cast as Pym for the film but there have been some rumors that director Edgar Wright will be filming some flashback scenes for the character. Back when we still thought Pym was going to be Ant-Man instead of Scott Lang, some people actually thought that Wilson would be a good fit for the role. Wilson also has some experience playing a superhero in Watchmen, so he also has experience with performing in a more historical setting (sure it was the 80s but I think it still counts).
There is also the theory from Entertainment Weekly that he could play Eric O’Grady, who in the comics also ends up becoming Ant-Man by stealing a prototype Ant-Man suit from S.H.I.E.L.D.’s headquarters in order to stalk women and be a more successful thief. This might work if they wanted to make him into a villain, but O’Grady is somehow actually considered a hero in the comics so I really don’t see this one happening.
Do you think Patrick Wilson is a good addition to the Ant-Man cast? Who do you think he’ll end up playing? Let us know what you think in the comment section below.

I love this idea. If they decide to make another Ant-Man movie based in the past, I would love to see Patrick Wilson as the star.
