Elizabeth Olson will be playing Scarlet Witch in the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron movie, and I couldn’t ask for a better choice. Yeah, she is young and doesn’t really have the Romanian personality that the comics might have made me expect, but seeing as how this is a younger Wanda Maximoff and is not Magneto’s daughter in this movie (because of right’s issues), I think Olson will be great.
Before anyone complains about the Olson Twins, this is not an Olson Twin – it is their much more talented younger sister who turned heads everywhere with her amazing performance in Martha Marcy May Marlene and will also appear next year in Godzilla. She is a quality choice – period.
When asked why she decided to join the cast of Avengers: Age of Ultron, instead of talking about the money and fame, she pointed out the great ensemble cast as one of the major draws.
“When there’s a great ensemble already in place, you’re just like, That sounds awesome — because I want to work with all of those people. That’s amazing. And it’s all of these people that I respect.”
I’m telling you, this girl reminds me so much of someone like Chloe Moretz Grace and Jennifer Lawrence than she does of her older nut job sisters. It also sounds like she has Witch’s persona down pat too.
“For obvious reasons you can’t talk about certain background, but it is so much fun,” Olson said. “And it’s so funny, everyone always talks to me about, ‘Do you really love having all of these psychological problems and things like that [with your characters]?’ And I’m like, ‘I don’t mean for that to happen.’ And with Scarlet Witch, I’m like she’s complicated, that one! You know? Like, she might be the most damaged of them all! Which is so cool.”
I can’t wait. Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters on May 1, 2015.
