Hey, guess what took the top spot at the weekend box office? If you guessed a godlike dude that swings a hammer with a funny name you’d be right?
Don’t listen to me. I’m just bitter that I didn’t get out to see Thor: The Dark World this weekend. But I have been diligently avoiding all spoilers, included any blurbs about post-credits sequences, so I am fresh whenever I get a chance to go.
Anywho, The Dark World snagged a cool $86M U.S. opening. The film has also been rocking the international market, pulling in an additional $241M overseas. Here’s the rest of the weekend’s box office top ten:
Position | Title | Weekend | Total |
1 | Thor: The Dark World | $86.1M | $86.1M |
2 | Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa | $11.3M | $78.8M |
3 | Free Birds | $11.2M | $30.2M |
4 | Last Vegas | $11.1M | $33.5M |
5 | Ender’s Game | $10.3M | $44.0M |
6 | Gravity | $8.4M | $231.1M |
7 | 12 Years a Slave | $6.6M | $17.4M |
8 | Captain Phillips | $5.8M | $91.0M |
9 | About Time | $5.2M | $6.7M |
10 | Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 | $2.8M | $110M |
We could sit here and talk about how Ender’s Game has dropped off, how Jackass Presents continues to suprise at the box office, or a number of other things related to ticket sales. But all that really needs to be said is, “Enjoy your reign at the top, Thor.”
‘Cause come next week, Katniss is back.
