On September 24th ABC premieres Marvel’s agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and if you’re like me, and you can’t get enough of Marvel movies, this series will be one you have been waiting for. Before we get ready to see how Marvel approaches the new show, here are 3 questions we would like answered in the premier or throughout the series.

1. Who is Nick Fury?

Maybe that question is vague but maybe it isn’t, let me explain. We “know” Nick Fury is the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. however with the Marvel cinematic universe we know that Marvel has taken their own approach to writing and rewriting character backgrounds. In the comics, Nick Fury is a World World II army hero. In the cinematic universe he doesn’t seem to be that old, so Nick Fury’s origin and past has not been explored a great deal. I don’t expect Samuel L. Jackson to be a consistent character in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D but it would still nice to be told Nick’s origin and a little backstory.

2. Will Marvel use this show as a testing ground for superheros?

We know that outside of the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. there will be superheros to some degree. We also know that, in the MCU, we at a minimum have 5 more Marvel movies. The Avengers 2 and 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant Man. We also suspect that Marvel is planning a Doctor Strange movie along with up to 3 other Marvel movie projects. So the question remains if a character from Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. happens to blow the audience away or the writers seem to love a particular character, will that character get placed in one of these upcoming Marvel movies or even a movie or short film of his or her own?

3. How is Agent Coulson still alive?

This is the no brainer question we want answered. From the previews of the show there is no hint on how he is alive. I hope the promotion of Agent Ward’s clearance going from a level 6 to level 7  isn’t the only mention to how Coulson is still alive. We want details names, dates, places and times and what exactly happened with Coulson and Loki in The Avengers.

I know all of these questions not be answered tonight on the very first episode. But if Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is anything like the rest of the MCU movies there will be hints, teases and clues to some of these questions scattered throughout this show. Just as pieces of information was scattered through the 7 or 8 Marvels movies (depending how many Hulk movies to count as in the MCU) we’ve already seen.
