In news that made D-Rock groan and girls squeal, the Fifty Shades of Grey movie adaptation has cast its lead characters. In what some might consider shocking casting news, the male lead will be played by Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam.

Yep, Jax is gonna play the lead in a movie based on a trashy novel that itself started as fan fiction for the Twilight movie series.

Of course, people who only know Hunnam from Sons of Anarchy and this summer’s kick-ass monster movie Pacific Rim should also know he starred as the lead in Nicholas Nickleby and also had a decent sized role in the TV series Queer as Folk. This is not beneath him.

Plus, the girl that he gets to be all hot and heavy with is none other than Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith’s offspring Dakota Johnson.

For those who have never read the novel, the book’s Wikia page describes Christian Grey in this manner: “To the outside world, he appears young, handsome, business-savvy, and charming. However, he has a “dark side”: he secretly practices BDSM. Christain is tall, muscular, and broad-shouldered, with dark copper-colored hair and “smoldering” gray eyes.”

Are you hot yet?

Fifty Shades of Grey hits theaters on Aug. 1, 2014.
