Len Wiseman, director of the recent Total Recall remake has dropped out of The Mummy reboot due to conflicts in schedule. While the production keeps on truckin’, the producers, Sean Daniels, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are on the search for a director, immediately. While there are scripts from two different people, Jon Spaihts and Billy Ray, either way the film is set in modern day. Before leaving the project, Wiseman said
“It’s horror. Its epic. It’s more of a modern day version of what would happen if we came across a mummy in our world today. It is pretty fascinating.”
Although the sequels weren’t very solid, the original remake of Mummy from the late 90’s is one of my all time favorite films. Blending action, comedy, and horror, The Mummy contains incredible atmosphere that’s back drop to action & adventure that pays homage to the likes of Indiana Jones & James Bond. A hell of a film that deserves more recognition.
