It was reported over the weekend that the ABC TV series Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD will be tied into the movie Thor: The Dark World. Now word has come that the show is supposed to tie into Captain America: The Winter Soldier with possibly the final episodes of the season leading into the big Marvel April 2014 release.

The season is supposed to end shortly after the movie hits theaters, and a source told comicbook.com that the TV show will set up the SHIELD shown in the film. As everyone who watched the trailer knows, the SHIELD in Captain America: The Winter Soldier is fractured and there are a lot of problems from within the organization. From the looks of it, this fractured unit will put Sam Jackson’s Nick Fury on one side and Robert Redford’s bureaucrat on the other.

With the TV show Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD about – you know – SHIELD, it makes sense that they should have to answer to the problems within the organization on the show if the Captain America movie is to make sense. They do live within the same world.

It is also smart to consider that since Agent Coulson is a good guy at heart, out team of misfits will be on the side of good if there is an evil unit within SHIELD itself. That should bring some new big conflicts into the show’s second half and should leave the series with a perfect cliffhanger for season two.

Will tying into the Marvel movie universe help expose Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD to a bigger audience? Will tying it into movies help or hurt the show in the long run? Chime in below with your thoughts.
