We’ve suspected it since the post-credits sequence of The Avengers. From the moment that massive silhouette turned to the camera and revealed Thanos’s smirking face, it’s been in play. Now it seems more likely than ever. The Marvel Universe may be building toward the Infinity Gauntlet!
Kevin Feige dropped several hints during an interview and they all point in the same awesome direction. “Well, I don’t know that I would spell it out that clearly, necessarily, but certainly fans of the comics could surmise that all of this is leading somewhere. That Joss’ decision to have Thanos turn around and smile for the audience at the end of ‘Avengers’, our reveal, was always the plan.”
I know what you’re thinking. ‘Lux that just means Thanos is going to be a character. There’s no gauntlet there.’ Fair enough imaginary naysayer. How do you respond to this? “…And where it goes from there, we’ll see… But yes, the MacGuffin of ‘Guardians’ certainly plays into MacGuffins of the past.” All of the Macguffins, the plot driving objects, are connected. Eventually, they’ll be assembled into one super powerful gauntlet.
This is great news! The Infinity Gauntlet is one of the most awesome Marvel stories there is. The basic plot consists of Thanos collecting six magical gems (Time, Space, Mind, Soul, Reality, and Power) and combining them to become omnipotent. The entire Marvel universe joins forces to battle against this monstrosity. I won’t give away any more. Who knows what they’ll reveal slowly over the course of next few years, but with Nebula appearing in Guardians Of The Galaxy another piece of the Infinity Gauntlet puzzle seems to be sliding into place. If these suspicions are true, you’d better get ready. It’s about to get out of control in the Marvel universe.
