Evangeline Lilly (Lost, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug) is currently in early talks to star opposite Paul Rudd in Marvel’s Ant-Man. Lilly’s prospective role is currently being kept a secret by Marvel but it appears the her role may not even be a character in the comics.
There are currently many possibilities floating around the internet as to who Lilly would be playing which have ranged from simply being Paul Rudd’s love interest to playing Hank Pym’s daughter and possibly even the Wasp.
It would be an interesting move if she turned out to be Pym’s daughter since to my knowledge he doesn’t even have a daughter. Some of the more hard-core fans of Ant-Man might understandably be wary of Marvel creating a new character for the movie but for now I’m going to reserve judgement. It’s not necessarily a bad thing for adaptations to insert new characters. Harley Quinn didn’t exist in the comics until first appearing in Batman: The Animated Series and now it’s hard for many fans to picture a Joker story without her.
