Iron Man went for three movies, so the question is honest when fans ask if Captain America and Thor will be trilogies as well. Kevin Feige already said that Marvel plans to release one known property and one new property each year in the future, which means more sequels. He also said in a recent interview that there might be a Thor 3 if audiences want it.

In 2014, there will be a sequel in Captain America: The Winter Solider and a new movie in Guardians of the Galaxy. In 2015, there will be a sequel in Avengers: Age of Ultron and a new movie in Ant-Man. In 2016, I expect us to see Doctor Strange, a new movie, but what will the sequel be?

I would guess that is when we will see the possible third Thor movie.

“Thor’s next adventure will be Age of Ultron,” Feige said. “So, that’s where all the Thor effort is going. But there are things you will see at the end of [The Dark World] that certainly hint towards and could lead towards a third Thor adventure if that’s what audiences want to see. We definitely have a story we’d like to tell.”

There was also a recent interview with Jaimie Alexander, who plays Sif, where she said there is something “big” coming for her character after Thor: The Dark World. She said it in the video below.

Methinks that there is more Thor coming, but Feige did want to point out that not all franchises will get trilogies, although Thor – or more specifically Loki – will complete his trilogy in Thor: The Dark World.

“We don’t build any of the movies to be a trilogies; we work on one movie at a time and really focus on making that the best film,” Feige said. “And if it works and if people enjoy it, then we get to tell another story. But what’s interesting about The Dark [World], is it kind of is a completion of a trilogy already if you look at the first Thor, Avengers and then The Dark [World] – particularly for the character Loki – you will see a very sort of cohesive arc for that character. So, we can sort of call it a sub-trilogy within the broader [Marvel Cinematic Universe].”

Feige also said that – if there is ever a Thor movie, it would not be before Thor 3, another hint that it is coming..
