Have you guys seen Prisoners yet? I haven’t but would like to soon. Our own Aidan Green has a rather positive review which you can read here. Seem’s Aidan isn’t alone as Prisoners took the top spot at the box office this weekend, pulling in just north of $21M to beat out last week’s #1, Insidious: Chapter 2, which held on for second place this weekend with $14.5M to bring its domestic total to almost $61M overall. Not bad for a $5M investment; and oh yeah, they’ve already announced a third part in the series.
In other news, Vin Diesel’s Riddick looks to break just about even after this weekend, which is probably not the low heights being sought by the roughly $38M investment. And for those lucky enough to live in an area to see it donated about $3M to the Wizard of Oz IMAX 3D reissue. Here’s the complete top ten for the weekend ending Sept. 22:

Next week brings Alfonso Cuarón’s highly anticipated Gravity starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. Also making its way to theaters is the crime thriller Runner Runner starring the new Batman, Ben Affleck, and Justin Timberlake. And if you live in the right area and are extremely adventurous, perhaps you’ll try your fate with Dario Argento’s Dracula 3D. (Have you seen the trailer? Kooky.) What are you planning on seeing?
