You can file this under the Captain Obvious banner, but Clash of the Titans director Louis Leterrier called the Clash of the Titans 3D conversion for his movie “absolutely horrible.”
Leterrier was doing an interview concerning his new movie, Now You See Me, and spoke out for the first time about his Clash of the Titans experience. While it is easy to blame the director for messes like that, Leterrier defended his position and pointed his finger right back at the studio who made the call to convert his movie into 3D after the fact.
“I was literally thrown under the bus,” Leterrier said “I still have a good relationship with Warner Bros., but at one point it was like, ‘Yeah, Louis chose the 3D.’ And I was like, ‘No, guys, I didn’t choose the 3D. I actually told you it’s not working. I couldn’t control it. I said don’t do it.'”
While that sounded pretty diplomatic, Leterrier took it one step further by saying the Clash of the Titans 3D conversion was “absolutely horrible” and was “just a gimmick to steal money from the audience.” He then disowned the movie.
Louis Leterrier had made some fantastically fun movies before that, with The Transporter and the second ever Marvel Universe movie, The Incredible Hulk. The fact that he refused the sequel Wrath of the Titans speaks volumes about his feelings about the Clash of the Titans 3D conversion debacle.
