On May 15th, Stallone tweeted “What’s the plan? Ask Jackie Chan…”, and later that evening he also said “Talked to WESLEY today…..He can not WAIT to fight to the top again!!!!! Over…”. However, he did end up deleting the tweet about Wesley Snipes later on, so perhaps things aren’t as concrete as they seemed.
Stallone also talked about the highly acclaimed, although your scribe feels is a bit over-rated, Raid: The Redemption.
“Thinking about Raiding, THE RAID….think about it” Sly tweeted on May 15th. He followed that up with “We believe we can do better than the RAID, which was an excellent film….Raising the bar”
I really hope they get Jackie, as it’d be great to see him get back to his roots of doing pure action. The series will have a major blemish on it if there’s no inclusion of him anywhere. Snipes, I could take or leave him without any real feeling, honestly. I’m damn happy that Rourke is back, because the character of Tool is basically Mickey just being himself. A laid-back guy who’s riding around with chicks he doesn’t know the name of and flat out being awesome.
There’s no question I love The Expendables franchise. Honestly, I can’t think of any film series more catered to one person than this one is to me. It’s all my heroes in one film, being so burly that the theater seats end up having to be shaved. The Director’s Cut of the first one needs to be seen by everyone. It greatly surpasses the theatrical release, and is so bloody fantastic that I believe it to be the greatest action film of all time. The second one was incredible, and I was ecstatic to be able to see Jean-Claude on the big screen again. It also felt great that he received praise for his role, as he was finally given the recognition for his acting skills.
