Man of Steel has become possibly the most anticipated movie of 2013. Not only will it be the first time that the Man of Steel has graced the silver screen since 2006’s Superman Returns, but it seems that it will also begin to build the DC Movie Universe in a similar way to how Iron Man was the first step in building towards the Avengers.
For those who don’t know, Booster Gold is a young man from the 25th century who steals a high-tech suit of armor and travels to the past to become the most famous hero of the modern era. He starts off as a fame-obsessed jerk, but he later matures into a very responsible and well-respected hero. You could describe him as DC’s answer to The Doctor, but with superpowers.
Screen Rant has pointed out that there may be a very subtle reference to Booster Gold in the Man of Steel trailers. There’s a specific shot which focuses on Superman and another Kryptonian, possibly General Zod, flying on a collision course towards each other in front of a skyscraper. Here’s the image below.
If the image in the trailer is indeed the Blaze Comics logo, it could potentially set up for a Booster Gold movie somewhere down the road. That being said, I don’t think that’s the case. It’s probably just an Easter egg for the fans that the production team decided to leave in. After all, it’s unlikely that a B-list hero like Booster would appear in the Justice League movie so soon. And last year DC did announce that they were developing a TV show about Booster to air on SyFy. If the series gets made, they’ll probably keep it separate from the DC Movies, even though they could easily tie some of the threads together.
What do you think about this idea? Do you think we could see Booster Gold in a movie at some time in the future? Why don’t you just tell us what you think in the comments below?
