Those who remember when the site first started might recall the time I reviewed A Good Day to Die Hard, and completely ripped it a new butthole. When it comes to films, I usually try to be fair, and sometimes I even feel a little too lenient with some features. With this in mind, when I give a film a 2 out of 10 score, then you know I truly have nothing but pure unadulterated hatred for that experience. From the way it sounds, I may not be the only one because now FOX appears to be trying to bring back a familiar face to the dying franchise.
Latino Review reports that FOX is taking pitches from various writers to tackle a creative way to reunite John Mclane and Zeus Carver (Played by Sam Jackson) for a 6th outing for Die Hard. This will be the first reunion of Bruce Willis and Sam Jackson in the franchise since Die Hard with a Vengeance, which is by far my personal favorite in the franchise. Will this actually happen? I’m not holding my breath, but it’s certainly a nice idea.
Personal opinion, I’m not sure what Sam Jackson can do to make this franchise have credibility again if they are not willing to consider a decent story first. Yes, I’m sure there is clever ways to bring back Zeus , but we need the Hard be put back in Die Hard first. What made the first three films so fantastic was John Mclane wasn’t a supercop. He bled, he ached, he hurt, and he was a normal guy in the worst situation. They need to get the character grounded again, and same goes for Zeus. Sam Jackson was just a pawn shop owner, and nothing more. Focus on great characters and story first and the rest will follow. Also, someone keep Bruce’s ego in check once production rolls.
