Alfonso Cuaron just won a Golden Globe award for directing Gravity, and Warner Bros. just sent out a press release announcing that they are re-releasing Gravity into theaters on Jan. 17.
The movie, which stars Sandra Bullock as Dr. Ryan Stone, on her first shuttle mission with a veteran astronaut Matt Kowalski (George Clooney). When the two are on a routine spacewalk, the shuttle is destroyed and they are left alone in space with seemingly no way home.
The movie has been described as many as one of the best uses of cinema in a long time and people will get another chance to see it the way it was meant to be, in what might be the best use of 3D since Avatar.
Released in October 2013, Gravity made $256 million at the U.S. box office and $675 million worldwide. The movie was nominated for four Golden Globes awards, including Best Film, and won the award for Best Director. It is also expected to pick up Oscar nominations for Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress, and a number of technical awards.
