Cinematic versions of The Hulk have always played out in bizarre ways. From Eric Bana to Edward Norton, Marvel has yet to effectively create a solo Hulk film. With that in mind, it’s not much of a stretch to say that Hulk was the best thing about The Avengers. It might be a reasonable assertion to say that Hulk works best when surrounded by others. A man who can’t get angry can’t quite carry a movie, but in small doses Dr. Bruce Banner is a fascinating character. The Hulk, on the other hand, should be fighting things all of the time. It’s the greatest.
Marvel agrees and according to Kevin Feige they intend to put even more Hulk in Age Of Ultron.
“We wanted people to come out of Avengers saying The Hulk was their favorite character or at least on [sic] of their favorite. The fact that it did happen was awesome. So, you know, all of the effort related to Hulk right now is going to Age of Ultron. It’s exciting, because [Ruffalo] hasn’t been in any other film, so you can expect to have a lot of Bruce Banner and Hulk in Age of Ultron.”
Great call Marvel. If The Hulk can’t carry his own movie, then it makes sense to hand over huge chunks of screen time during the team-ups. I wonder how much time there will be for The Hulk, though. Word on the street is that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver will both be playing major roles in Age Of Ultron. It looks like this movie is going to be set on a ludicrous scale. Hopefully Joss and the team over at Marvel can split up the limited time effectively.
