Lost Episodes of Doctor Who Revealed

Doctor Who lost episodes

Last week, it was said that BBC would be releasing a couple of Doctor Who lost episodes to be available for download on iTunes.  There were however, some rumors circulating that as many as 106 episodes had been recovered which I has said last week should really be taken with a grain of salt.

As it turns out though, BBC was able to announce a happy medium between the two by announcing the release of nine Doctor Who lost episodes from the Patrick Troughton stories Enemy of the World and The Web of Fear.  Both stories previously only had one available episode apiece but thanks to these newly recovered episodes both stories are now almost completely restored with only the third episode still missing from The Web of Fear.

On a personal note, this development was much better news than I dared hoped for.  While I was definitely excited to hear the news of recovered Doctor Who lost episodes I mostly assumed it was going to be a couple of random episodes to stories that I’ve never seen before and I cannot wait for a chance to watch these stories in their entirety (BBC will probably work around the missing Web of Fear episode).  I’m especially excited to see Enemy of the World since it gives me the opportunity to watch the late great Patrick Troughton pull double duty by playing both the hero and the villain who bears a striking resemblance to the Doctor.
