Sony Hires Amazing Spider-Man 2 Writers to Pen Third Movie

Amazing Spider-Man 3

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony has just hired The Amazing Spider-Man 2 writers Alex Kurtzman, Robert Orci, and Jeff Pinkner to write the script for Amazing Spider-Man 3.  Even though The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is still a full seven months away from being released Sony has been wasting no time moving ahead with future films having already reserved release dates for the franchise’s third and fourth installments for June 10th, 2016 and May 4th, 2018 respectively.  I think the studio might getting a little ahead of itself, but it’s not like these release dates are set in stone.

The screenwriting team of Kurtzman, Orci and Pinkner have been in high demand lately with movie studios.  They are already set to write the next Star Trek movie, Universal’s reboot for The Mummy and an adaptation of the Joe Hill comic book adaptation Locke and Key.  It’s tough for me to get excited about this news just yet since I haven’t even seen a trailer the second movie to have any real feelings about Sony moving forward with a third.

Naturally, since they’re in the very early stages of pre-production there’s no official word as to who the Amazing Spider-Man 3 villain is going to be yet (though it’s always fun to speculate).  However, since both Norman and Harry Osborne are set to make an appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, it wouldn’t be hard to believe that the Green Goblin would make a return to the big screen.  There have also been rumors that the web-slinger may face-off against the Sinister Six.

Who do think should be Spider-Man’s next villain?  Are you looking forward to The Amazing Spider-Man 2?  Do you think Sony is moving too fast with franchise?  How about telling us what you think in the comment section below?
