Constantine TVNot much is known about what direction NBC’s Constantine TV show will take, whether is will follow the story lines of the long running Hellblazer comic or go the route of the 2005 movie starring Keanu Reeves. The only information floating about the ether is 3 names in addition to Constantine himself; Chas, Liv and Manny. Chas no doubt being John Constantine’s Cabbie companion Francis ‘Chas’ Chandler, who was played by Shia LaBeouf on the big screen. Though entertaining,  the film character bore little resemblance to that of the on page persona. The other two names are a mystery, possibly original characters created for the show.

Helming the pilot will be David S. Goyer, who has been on board for a long list of DC projects and The Mentalist’s Daniel Cerone. With over 300 issues to draw from, the creators shouldn’t have any problems coming up with story lines, and if they want a Constantine TVsuccess they will stay true to the Hellblazer histories. Hopefully at the very least keeping John Constantine British. Listed on IMDB’s writing credits in addition to Cerone and Goyer are Jamie Delano, who was Hellblazer’s first writer and Garth Ennis who took the title from 1991-99. Comic book fans are generally die hard, and appreciate faithful renditions of their favorites on the big or little screen (myself included), but veer too far off the mark and Hell hath no fury like a comic geek scorned.
