There are spoilers in here for Captain America: The Winter Soldier – read on at your own risk.

Spoilers

The biggest plot line in Captain America: The Winter Soldier revealed the fact that HYDRA had infiltrated SHIELD ever since it started with moles in every level of the program, including  senior councilman Alexander Pierce. By the end of the movie, Black Widow exposed all the secrets of SHIELD and the HYDRA agents involved, Nick Fury faked his own death, and the entire organization was up in flames.

What does this mean for television’s Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD?

While there are other stories playing out this season, including A.I.M. and the Extremis stories, as well as Deathlok, the team are SHIELD agents, and if SHIELD is no more, what does that mean for Agent Coulson and company?

Tonight, on the next episode of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, Turn, Turn Turn, what the future holds for Agent Coulson and his team will start to form, as they ended the last episode on the way back to base with the HYDRA members of SHIELD ordered to kill them all.

So, what is going to happen?

Captain America: The Winter SoldierWell, as you saw in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, one of the SHIELD agents who was really a HYDRA agent was Jasper Sitwell (which was a little disappointing because he was never a traitor in the comics). Well, he is dead now, and Coulson’s team are headed for a rendezvous with other HYDRA agents who plan to kill them.

Will tonight’s show take place DURING the Captain America: The Winter Soldier movie, putting them in immediate danger, or does it take place after the fact, where they have to figure out what is going on?

Things are going to get interesting from here out. As for what they have planned for the Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD team, I have two words for comic book fans that makes me think of where they might be headed – Secret Avengers.

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD airs at 8 p.m. EST Tuesday nights on ABC.
