There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that The Sinister Six will be the villains battling Spider-Man in the third movie in the new series. For one thing, Electro (Jamie Foxx) is the main villain in Amazing Spider-Man 2 while Rhino (Paul Giamatti) is in a minor role.

That right there is two members.

Next add this piece of information found by eagle eyed Spidey fans from a copy of the Daily Bugle in some viral marketing for the new movie:

Despite the assault on Oscorp Tower two weeks ago and the revelation that disgruntled Oscorp employee, Dr. Curt Connors, was responsible for the attack, Oscorp’s stock has climbed four points.

Oscorp spokesman Douglas Menken provided some details from the meeting, including that the construction on the prototype alternative energy power plant, complete with hydroelectric tower, is on schedule for completion within the next year.

Other highlights included a preview of a flight harness for the military and significant advancements in robotics by the head of the engineering division, Spencer Smythe.

First, we have the hydrielectric tower (Hyrdo-Man) and then we have the flight harness (The Vulture). Finally thee is Spencer Smyth – the man who created the Spider-Slayers.

Now, I am discounting that last one as just a wink and a nod. However, since I am convinced The Sinister Six is coming – we have Electro, Rhino, Hydro-Man and The Vulture (probably already cast as Colm Feore) so far. In the comics, The Sinister Six was controlled behind-the-scenes by Norman Osborn. In the fantastic animated series The Spectacular Spider-Man, a character named Mister Big hired Norman Osborn to create super villains to keep Spider-Man occupied.

Either way, Norman Osborn was involved and I think he will start dishing out superpowers like candy and sending him minions after Spider-Man for revenge for the damage caused in the first movie.

My only question now is who the other two members of The Sinister Six will be. In the comics and animated series, there was Doc Octopus and Sandman, but would they bring these villains back after Sam Raimi’s movies? Who else would you want to fill out the roles – Kraven? Mysterio? Shocker? The Walrus? Chime in below.
