The Dark Knight trilogy has finally ended its magnificent run and now the big question is… What will Christian Bale do next? Deadline reports that the next challenge for the actor will be none other than Everest. The film centers around the true story about a tragic expedition climb gone wrong back in 1996. The terrible events of the climb is described by the site as follows:
Three different expeditions were hit by a sudden blinding storm and by the time it was all over, eight climbers died. The tale was first made famous by Jon Krakauer’s Into Thin Air, his first-person account of being among the lucky ones to make it back down the mountain.
The film is currently being directed by Baltasar Kortmakur, who also made the Mark Wahlberg vehicle Contraband last year. As mediocre as I found that movie, the involvement of Bale definitely gains my curiosity. I definitely love a great “Man vs. Nature” story. If Everest is anywhere near the experience of 2012’s The Grey, then we’re in for one hell of a ride.
Baltasar Kortmakur currently has another Mark Wahlberg entry due out this year with Denzel Washington, titled 2 Guns. My expectations for Everest entirely depend on how he handles this next film. Until then, this seems like one to keep on your radar in the months to come.
