In a recent interview with Metro, Arnold discussed the future of the Terminator franchise and Terminator 5:
“We’re writing it now. There are three projects being written that involve me. One is Terminator 5, the other is a Conan movie that Universal is doing and there’s the sequel to Twins, which is called Triplets. We’ll all look quite different in that. The third triplet is Eddie Murphy, so figure that one out.”
Even though The Last Stand wasn’t a huge hit, I can’t think of a person who isn’t looking forward to Arnold’s return to arguably the biggest sci-fi franchise of all time. Salvation was hit or miss with the public, and it left a lot of people clamoring for Arnold’s comeback. Of course, the last Arnold-featured Terminator film was part 3. While it hit number 1 at the box-office, and was crammed with action, it received a lot of backlash due to it being a simple rehash of part 2. Myself, and this is sheer blasphemy I know, but I enjoy Rise of the Machines more than Judgment Day. For me, I can’t stand the character of John Connor in part 2, nor do I like Sarah Connor. I think it’s complete crap that they turn the deadly Terminator into a machine that says “I need a vacation”. Cameron took a dark, bloody film, the original Terminator and made it a light, fluffy family picture. Part 3 was absolutely jam packed with action, containing one of the greatest car chases in history, rid itself of the annoying characters, and had a far greater sense of humor than crap like “chill-out, dickwad”. People just trash it because it’s the thing to do, and I suspect most people haven’t even seen it.
I’m the action dude, so obviously I know what I’m talking about. I mean, I have a published ebook on amazon, that’s basically a college degree.
I think it’s great we’re getting another Conan film as well, especially since it’ll wash away the taste of that crappy remake. Hollywood needs to learn, you can’t remake an Arnold film. So stop trying.
