I can never hate Simon West. Sure, he has directed some crap, but he also directed Con Air, which gives him a nice get-out-of-jail-free card for life. However, I am happy to see him off of Expendables 3 and I am intrigued to see what Patrick Hughes (Red Hill) will do with the opportunity.
While Red Hill is his only release, it is a nice genre film and the guy has skills. If he gets to make the movie his way, it could be pretty cool. However, when you have a ton of egos, that might be hard.
That brings us to the news for the day. The following four names are now allegedly in “advanced negotiations” to join the cast of Expendables 3: Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, Nicolas Cage, and Milla Jovovich.
Add those names to Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Dolph Lundgren and a rumored Steven Seagal and you have egos the size of Mount Rushmore (someone should totally carve Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris and Bruce Willis’ face into the side of a mountain).
According to the Expendables 3 rumors, Jackie Chan wants something bigger than a cameo role. As for me, I would love to see Nic Cage pull out his Face/Off bad guy role here and maybe have him serving as the right hand man for Wesley Snipes’ bad-ass bad guy.
