Vertigo is buffering the hiatus of American Vampire with a special 80-page one-shot this August titled American Vampire Anthology.
While series creators Scott Snyder and Rafael Albuquerue take a break, an impressive list of writers and artists is taking a stab at the long-running horror comic. Greg Rucka, Jeff Lemire, Gail Simone, Fabio Moon, Gabriel Ba, Becky Cloonan, Ray Fawkes, Declan Shalvey, and Francesco Francavilla will all be contributing stories to American Vampire Anthology.
The one-shot will feature characters both new and familiar to regular readers and cost $7.99.
Francesco Fancavilla is probably the only creator I’d buy this for — he seems like a natural choice for American Vampire. Francavilla’s Detective Comics run with Scott Snyder was one of the best Batman stories in recent memory, trumping Snyder and Greg Capullo’s recent ‘Owl’ storylines by a mile.
