Disney is working on the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie and they are searching for a new director. That is smart because the fourth movie was complete garbage and getting rid of Rob Marshall was the first thing they needed to do before moving on. At the moment, here is the short list for Pirates of the Caribbean 5 directors:
Frederik Bond, Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg, and Rupert Sanders.
Let’s get to Rupert Sanders first. He has directed a major big budget action movie already with Snow White and the Huntsman and it did decent at the box office. His best parts of the movie was with The Huntsman, so he might be decent with Capt. Jack, but you got to watch him with your leading ladies.
Now for the lesser known Pirates of the Caribbean 5 options.
Fredrik Bond directed The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman. The movie is only ranked at 33-percent rotten at Rotten Tomatoes, but Jerry Bruckheimer has always been high on Bond. Maybe the poor showing was because “Mr. Method” Shia LaBeouf actually tripped on acid while making the movie to make it more realistic.
According to Deadline, the names popping up the most are the directing partnersĀ Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg. These two directed Kon-Tiki, a movie about a Norwegian explorer who used a raft to cross the Pacific Ocean from South America to the Polynesian islands. Imagine Life of Pi, with a group dynamic instead of a boy and a tiger.
No offer has been made to anyone, but these are the names that have surfaced. Check out the trailer for Kon-Tiki and imagine them directing Pirates of the Caribbean 5.
