That’s right Renegades! IMAX is preparing to take the full immersive cinema experience and place it right inside your home. However, only a select few will be chosen for the first installations. This is extremely promising news that one day anyone can have an IMAX experience from inside the house. In fact, I think the IMAX format is miles better than the 3D craze Hollywood is trying to push on viewers. So, maybe this will have greater market impact than the 3D television systems.
Of course this luxurious experience is probably aimed for rich folks who do not mind coughing out thousands of dollars for the installation. Still, this is a great start for testing the product in high class homes.
I know I’ve been frustrated with past releases — such as The Dark Knight– because I can’t go back and experience what Nolan gave us with those IMAX sequences. Maybe one day I’ll be able to share these thrilling shots with my children now that IMAX is taking the product to home viewing.
