A new image from next year’s X-Men: Days of Future Past has debuted online, and the character in question is none other than Hank McCoy, the Beast. Check out the Beast image below:
Nicholas Hoult played the younger version of the character in Matthew Vaughan’s X-Men: First Class back in 2011, and he will be reprising the role for Days of Future Past. Since the sequel will be set eleven years after the events of First Class, it makes sense that this Beast image does look older and quite a bit different than the last movie.
His eyes remain yellow, but he looks more like the classic “blue ape” version of Beast over the more catlike version in the current comics and in First Class. It actually looks like a halfway point between the initial catlike form and the version we saw in X-Men: The Last Stand, when Kelsey Grammer played Beast.
I like the way it seems that they’ll be having Beast evolve in the opposite direction over the course of his life compared to how’s he evolved in the comics. Singer has already mentioned that he’ll be able to use the time travel elements of the new movie to fix some elements, and this could very easily be one of them. I also like the way Beast looks here. Next to Wolverine and Nightcrawler, Beast is my favorite member of the X-Men, and I’m glad he’ll be back for the new movie. I thought that Hoult did a very good job last time, and I’m interested to see what they’ll do with this next one.
What do you think of the new look for Beast? Do you prefer Cat Beast? Or do you like Ape Beast more? Why don’t you just tell us what you think in the comments below?
