Wesley Snipes Talks Blade 4 Possibilities

Blade 4

Earlier this year, news broke that Marvel was planning on doing something with the Blade franchise. This is one of the properties that Marvel regained the rights to, along with DaredevilPunisher, and Ghost RiderDaredevil has already been made into an amazing Netflix TV series and Punisher will appear in the second season of that series.

While there is no word on Ghost Rider, it sounds like Blade is not only in the works to return, but there might be some serious planning on how to bring the Day Walker back. Wesley Snipes, who starred as Blade in the original movie trilogy (which was pretty damn good and actually pre-dated the X-Men franchise) said that he had been talking to Marvel and something might happen with Blade 4.

Well, Snipes is talking again. He talked to the Huffington Post about the franchise and the possibility of Blade 4. This is what he had to say.

“There’s always a possibility, you know. It’s in Marvel’s hands. They’re controlling the pace and the flow with that. Conversations have been good. They see the value in it. We see the value in it,” Snipes said. “I’m still in shape enough and fit enough to handle the role. We’ll see how it goes. I don’t really know what’s going to happen to it yet.”

The reported also asked if Blade could show up in an Avengers movie, which is not likely possible, but is fun to talk about I guess. Snipes just kind of laughed that off, calling it “interesting.”

With these latest rumors, there was also the news recently that Marvel is starting a new Blade comic book series and that new series will feature Blade but it will actually be about his daughter. It goes on sale next month and here is the synopsis:

The new series, from Tim Seeley and Logan Faerber, centers on Fallen Grey, a popular 16-year-old from rural Oregon who learns that she’s Blade’s daughter when supernatural trouble finds its way to her rural home. The book is set up as a journey of discovery for both father and daughter, who will start to find a new sense of direction in the wake of the revelation that they’re related.

With the fact in mind that Marvel wants to set up their main comic book characters to closely resemble those in the movies, it looks like the Blade 4 movie might be about Blade and his daughter.

With that said, there is also the news that John Ridley is working on a TV show for ABC, the network that airs Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter. The rumors is that his series might be based on Fallen Grey, and this is the project that Wesley Snipes has been involved with.
