Max Landis to Make Short FIlm about WWE Star Triple H

Max Landis

I don’t know where I was when this came out, but for some reason I missed the Max Landis short film The Death and Return of Superman when it came out in 2011. The short was basically Landis sitting down with scotch in hand and talked about the classic DC Comics storyline The Death of Superman.

It was a very sarcastic take, with him pointing out everything that was wrong with it, while flashing to actors reenacting everything from the DC Comics meetings to the scenes from the Superman comics as well as the aftermath with the four replacement Supermen showing up.

If you haven’t seen it, check out The Death and Return of Superman, featuring names like Mandy Moore, Elijah Wood, Jennette McCurdy, Chris Hardwick, Ron Howard and Simon Pegg, here.

Well, The Death and Return of Superman has come back into the news. Landis, who went on to write Chronicle and has four movies coming out in 2015, will make what he calls a sequel to The Death and Return of Superman (via Slash Film).

The new short film will be called Wrestling Isn’t Wrestling, and instead of being about comics, it will be about professional wrestling examining the 20 year career of WWE superstar Triple H. This will likely start with his debut as Hunter Hearst Helmsley, move into the Clique and Degeneration X, and then finish up with him marrying Vince McMahon’s daughter (in real life) and taking over management of the company.

If The Death and Return of Superman showed us anything, it is that Wrestling Isn’t Wrestling will be a very irreverent look at Triple H’s WWE career. Plus, he has cast all females (including Chloe Dykstra, Anna Akana, Brittany Furlan) to play the wrestlers. I can’t wait. Check out how Landis made the announcement below and let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
