WWE Night of Champions Results and Recap (2014)

WWE Night of Champions

Before Night of Champions starts, Christian is out for an episode of the Peep Show. His guest is Chris Jericho and the two share unfunny quips about their former tag team. However, Christian then says that Orton is jealous of Jericho because Chris is his own man and Orton is just a lackey. Orton then comes on the big screen and cuts a nice promo about ending Christian’s career and how he will end Jericho’s tonight.

Night of Champions begins.

The first match is the WWE tag team title match and – for some reason – the champion Uso Brothers are out first for the match. Goldust and Stardust are out next. The match was amazing and went a good 20 minutes with Goldust and Stardust winning after a missed flying body splash.

Backstage, Dolph Ziggler and R-Ziggler are interviewed backstage about the upcoming Intercontinental title match.

However, the United States Championship is on the line next with Cesaro coming out first to take on the champion Sheamus. This was another amazing match, a battle of the big men that turned into a huge fight by the end. The finish came when Cesaro just unleashed a flurry of blows to Cesaro, was pulled off by the referee, and then got a quick Brogue Kick to end it. Sheamus won and he deserved it.

Backstage, Big Show is pumping Mark Henry up for his match with Rusev and presents him with American flag desired tights. After that, Florida Georgia Line are brought out. They are going to do special color commentary during the next match. They are here to announce that they will play live at the Tribute to the Troops show this year.

The Intercontinental Championship is next and The Miz is the first person out along with Damien Mizdow. Dolph Ziggler comes out next with R-Ziggler. There was one point where Florida Georgia Line knocked Sandow on his butt. The end came when Sandow ran back in and distracted Miz long enough for Miz to sneak in a roll up with the tights for the victory. The Miz is the IC Champ again.

The announcers then send it to coverage about Roman Reigns’ emergency surgery over the weekend. They showed a video that Reigns shot explaining what happened and then a doctor explained about the hernia problem and the surgery. They said that Reigns will be out for “several” months. That brought out his opponent Seth Rollins, who has a giant smile on his face. “Isn’t it crazy how you are on top of the world one moment, and the next you are Roman Reigns.” Funny stuff. “Emergency surgery is no excuse for not showing up here tonight.” He asks the referee to count to 10 or he wins by forfeit. The referee calls for the bell, counts to 10 and then announces Rollins as the winner. Rollins said that he is disappointed in Roman Reigns because he wasn’t man enough to show up to face him. Rollins said he has a way to make the fans happy, so he issues an open challenge to anyone to wrestle him, because that is the kind of competitor he is. A taxi cab shows up and Dean Ambrose steps out and heads to the ring. There is no match, but Ambrose just kicks the crap out of Rollins. The Authority rushes out and send out security. Ambrose takes out security and keeps beating up Rollins. Finally, security gets Ambrose under control and ties his hands up before dragging him out.

Mark Henry is out for the next match, wearing the new American flag inspired singlet. Lillian Garcia then enters the ring and sings the National Anthem. Mark Henry is in tears during the song. Rusev and Lana are out next. With all the pomp and circumstance, Rusev not only won but he actually made Mark Henry tap out to the Accolade. Even Jack Swagger wouldn’t tap out and just passed out, but Mark Henry actually tapped out. Wow.

Chris Jericho is out next for his match with Randy Orton. This was an incredible match and the best Randy Orton match I have seen in a long time. Orton went for the punt kick at one point, but Jericho dodged it and locked in the Walls of Jericho. Orton almost tapped but was able to roll and reverse out of the walls. Orton then went for the RKO, but Jericho reversed it into a Code Breaker. Orton kicked out, but then Jericho made the mistake of going to the top turnbuckle and waiting for Orton. When he flew off the buckle, Orton turned it into a big RKO for the win.

Backstage, Brie Bella is there and is asked about Nikki Bella getting a Divas title shot tonight. Brie said that AJ Lee and Paige both get a chance to knock Nikki down a few pegs.

That match is next. AJ Lee is the first Diva to come out to the ring. Nikki Bella is out next to almost no reaction one way or the other. Paige is the third out. At one point, Paige kicked AJ in the face and asked why she doesn’t love her! Whoa. Nikki actually looked good in the match because she fought a brawling, vicious style without any stupid Diva styled moves. AJ Lee ran into the ring after slamming Nikki to the floor and locked in the Black Widow in on Paige in an amazing and swift move to win the match and get her title back.

John Cena and Brock Lesnar is up for the main event for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. John Cena hit the Attitude Adjustment at the start of the match but Lesnar tapped out at one and then locked Cena in the Kimora arm lock that broke Triple H’s arm two years ago. A ways into the match, after Brock Lesnar dominated a more spirited John Cena, Cena hit another Attitude Adjustment and Lesnar kicked out after one. Then Cena locked in the STF but Lesnar powered out and into another Kimora arm lock. Cena lifted Lesnar from the mat to break the hold, hit another Attitude Adjustment and then locked in the STF again. Every time that Lesnar made it to the ropes, Cwena pulled him back into the middle of the ring again. Finally, Seth Rollins ran in and smashed Cena with the Money in the Bank briefcase and then turned to look at Lesnar. Rollins thewn hit the Curb Stomp on Lesnar. Rollins said that he was cashing in but then John Cena attacked him before the bell rang, spoiling his chance. After Cena chased off Rollins, Brock Lesnar hit the F5 on John Cena and walked out standing tall as still the WWE champion.
