The The Fantastic Four script for the upcoming reboot has now been finished so Fox can focus on the casting. This is likely to happen sooner rather than later since production will be starting very quickly (as soon as February 4th) and they have plans to screen test actors later this month.
They appear to have the role of Johnny Storm already cast, as Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station) is officially attached to play the Human Torch. Among the actors auditioning for the role of Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) are Miles Teller, Kit Harrington (Game of Thrones, Pompeii) and Richard Madden (Game of Thrones). Up for the role of Sue Storm (Invisible Woman) are Kate Mara (House of Cards) and Saoirse Ronan (Hanna, The Host). I have to admit I’m having a hard time picturing any of these actors filling the roles but that probably has to do with me being use to them being portrayed by older actors.
Noticeably absent from the rumor mill so far though is the role of Ben Grimm. This could mean that they haven’t narrowed down the search just yet, which would be understandable given how badly the role has been botched in the past and that the character will likely have to use a lot of CGI.
Do you think these actors will be a good fit the roles? Do you agree with Fox’s decision to use younger actors in this version of the Fantastic Four script? Let us know in the comment section below.
