Paramount Narrows Their Search For Kyle Reese in Terminator: Genesis

Now that Paramount has casted the roles of John and Sarah Connor for their upcoming Terminator reboot, they are now looking to fill the role of Kyle Reese.  Among the actors doing screen tests on Monday are Jai Courtney (Jack Reacher, A Good Day To Die Hard), Sam Reid (Hatfields & McCoys) and Boyd Holbrook (Behind the Candelabra, Gone Girl).

To be perfectly honest, the only actor I really know anything about is Courtney but considering his previous experience, I’m less than impressed.  From the little I’ve seen of him in his movies, I don’t think I can even confirm that the guy even knows how to emote much less being a good actor.  Also, the actors that have played Kyle Reese in the past – Anton Yelchin and Michael Biehn (Check out Shawn’s interview with Biehn here) – have been rather skinny which is not a term I would use for Courtney.  Matter of fact I think his experience in action films might actually make him better suited to play a Terminator.

Regardless on who they cast though, I’ll still be interested to see Reese return to the big screen.  His character hasn’t really been developed since his initial appearance in the first Terminator and I would like to see his character explored further.

Do you think Jai Courtney would a good choice to play Kyle Reese?  How big of role do you think Reese will play in the Terminator reboot?  Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
