The Terminator Genesis casting is filling out the cast for Alan Taylor’s (Thor: The Dark World) upcoming reboot of the classic sci-fi franchise. It looks like both John Connor and Sarah Connor has been cast for the movie.
The Terminator updating is not just a rebooting, but according to the studio, it will take a moment from the original Terminator film and have this strand of the franchise move in a different direction. While that might seem confusing, with time travel it makes sense. It is how J.J. Abrams Star Trek series kept the past movies in canon while making changes on his timeline. It also looks like what Bryan Singer will do with the X-Men franchise with Days of Future Past.
For John Connor, who has previously been portrayed by Edward Furlong, Nick Stahl and Christian Bale, the Terminator Genesis casting will see Jason Clarke join the cast. Clarke was very impressive in Zero Dark Thirty and this should be the role that launches him into superstar status.
For his mother Sarah Connor, Terminator Genesis will turn to Emilia Clarke (no relation), who is best known for portraying Daenerys on the hit television series Game of Thrones. With Emilia Clarke 26-years-old and Jason Clarke 44-years-old, it is pretty clear that the two will either live in different time frames, or some major time travel will happen with John Connor instead of Kyle Reese this time around.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is also rumored to be returning in the Terminator Genesis casting rumors as well as the robot killer/savior from the original trilogy.
