It’s no secret that Colin Farrell has been offered a role in the highly anticipated Warcraft. However, Colin Farrell has now finally broken his silence about his possible involvement with the Duncan Jones directed flick. He confirms to having read the Warcraft script and claims to love it and even going so far as to call it “amazing.”
I really hope he’s not exaggerating on this because there has not been a single decent video game movie since 1995’s Mortal Kombat. In the meantime, we’ve been subjected to multiple Uwe Boll movies, Doom, the Resident Evil series, Prince of Persia, Tomb Raider and Max Payne. It seems like somebody would’ve at least stumbled on to something decent in the almost twenty years since but I’m feeling cautiously optimistic that Warcraft could finally buck the trend (somehow I don’t think Angry Birds will do the trick).
Farrell has not yet commented on what character he is up for, and even if he did I would still have no idea who he’s playing. Admittedly, I know pretty much nothing about the World of Warcraft universe, so I don’t have the slightest clue if Farrell should be in Warcraft or not. The full extent of my experience with the game pretty has much just consisted of watching it being played seemingly every waking moment by my college roommate plus a particularly funny episode of South Park. However, if Farrell’s apparent enthusiasm of the Warcraft script is genuine then more power to him.
