Guillermo Del Toro directed the new Treehouse of Horror opening for The Simpsons and it is one of the greatest things horror fans might ever see. After you get past the fact that Del Toro checks off all of his movies with homages, he then hits up just about anything else you can think of.
I have watched it a couple of time to see what I might have missed.
We see:
- Game of Thrones
- Soldiers fighting off a zombie attack
- Pacific Rim (monsters vs robots)
- Dawn of the Dead
- The Birds
- The Shining
- Hellboy
- Blade 2
- Godzilla
- Pan’s Labyrinth
- Cronos
- Mimic
- The Phantom of the Paradise
- Cthulhu
- Edgar Allen Poe, Ray Bradbury, Richard Matheson
- Classic Universal Monsters
- Pirannah
- Rod Sterling
- Lost in Space
- Aliens
- The Fly
- Plan 9 From Outer Space
- Nosferatu
- The Devil’s Backbone
- Alice in Wonderland with the Hypnotoad (ALL HAIL THE HYPNOTOAD)
- Back to Pan’s Labyrinth for a perfect ending
- and much, much more in between.
Check out the Guillermo Del Toro Treehouse of Horror opening above and tell me what all I left out.
