Hey, any of you Renegade Readers out there fans of Ti West? I have to admit that I’ve never seen The House of the Devil, and need to rectify that posthaste. The Innkeepers was a good, slow burn, even if I seem to be one of the few that really dug the ending. His Second Honeymoon segment in V/H/S was also a pretty good yarn. Heck, West even took an arrow to the head as part of the cast of You’re Next. If you’re a fan, you’ll be glad to know that his next feature, The Sacrament, has been picked up by Magnolia Pictures.
The Sacrament is a journey into Eden, a fictional cult not unlike that of Jonestown. It is (unfortunately, I bet for some) a found footage film where three video journalists document their attempt to reach a relative (one of the three’s sisters, I believe; details are still a little sketchy as of this report) who has taken up residence inside the Eden compound. The leader of the religious commune is played by Gene Jones, who you may remember as the country store proprietor asked to flip for his life (“Friend-o)” by Javier Bardem in No Country for Old Men.
Here’s hoping that West can continue to capitalize and surpass his previous efforts. I’m rooting for him. How about you?
